Dr. Yousef Alomi, Head of General Administration of Pharmaceutical Care Administration, and Head of National Drug Information Center, MOH Saudi Arabia Dr. Alomi is a product of King Saud University confirmed with the degree of Bachelor of Pharmaceutical Sciences in the year 1992. After six-years of higher study, he earned his Master of Clinical Pharmacy from the same university in the 1998. He is an affiliated clinical instructor of Purdue University in the USA. He is adjunct assistant professor of King Saud University college of Pharmacy. Dr. Alomi was a member of Pharmacy Board at Saudi commission for health Specialties for 1998-2002 and 2008-2012 and Head of Pharmacy Accreditation committee in 2010-2012. He was team member of establishing 1st Pharmacy Residency Program in Saudi Arabia . In the year 2005 he obtained Board Certification of Pharmacotherapy Specialist (BCPS). In the year 2008, he obtained his diploma in business administration from American University in Egypt in 2007, and he obtained a Board Certification of Nutrition Support Pharmacy (BCNSP) in 2009. Dr. Alomi worked as clinical pharmacist in critical care area and nutrition support. He is He is establish and implement several programs at MOH Hospitals at first time; Clinical Pharmacy Program, Medication Safety Program, Pain Management Program, Anticoagulation Program and Pharmacy Infection Control, including 30 Adult and 20 Pediatrics Clinical Pharmacy Program; he is the founder of Mass Gathering Pharmaceutical Care in Saudi Arabia He became a member of advisory board of the Arab Pharmaceutical Journal in 2010. He became as Pharmacy Board Member of Saudi Commission of Health Care Specialities 2010-2013. He had several research in clinical Pharmacy and Pharmacy practice published in ACCP and ISPOR conferences, He had several presentations in the clinical pharmacy and pharmacy practice at several conference in and outside Saudi Arabia.

Dr. Weiguo Dai is currently a Scientific Director in Drug Delivery, Devices and Packaging Development at Janssen, Johnson and Johnson Pharmaceutical Companies. He is also among the elected inaugural JANSSEN FELLOWS, the highly prestigious scientific honor awarded to internationally recognized top scientists within Janssen R&D. Dr. Dai is the recipient of several prestigious awards including 2011 Philip B. Hofmann Research Scientist Award, one of the most prestigious Johnson and Johnson Corporate Awards, in recognition of his “Outstanding Achievement in the Field of Research and Development”.

Dr. Dai’s research and innovation have focused on improving both biological and small molecule drug products through design and development of novel formulations, proprietary delivery technologies and processes. His technology innovations have directly led to the launch of a current commercial delivery-enhanced product by Johnson and Johnson, and established the development projects for clinical trials.

Prof. Aboul Ela is a graduate of Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Alexandria, Egypt. She has done her Ph.D. at Department of Pharmacognosy, Faculty of Pharmacy University of Alexandria in collaboration with Institute for Organic Chemistry, Technical University of Berlin, Germany. Her specialty is phytochemistry and phytotherapy. She had a postdoctoral fellow ship at School of Pharmacy, University of London, UK. Currently, she is the head of pharmaceutical sciences department, Faculty of Pharmacy, Beirut Arab University, Lebanon. She has more than sixty publications in national and international journals. She is a peer reviewer and editor in many international journals. She participated in various international conferences. She is a member of American Society of Pharmacognosy. She has more than 25 years experience in the field of education and research in pharmacognosy, phytochemistry and phytotherapy .She established the Junior Research Teams of the faculty in phytotherapy and medicinal chemistry. She supervises many theses. She started interdepartmental research collaboration at the faculty level. She is an expert in QA in Higher Education. She awarded a distinguishable peer reviewer from Ministry of Higher Education in Egypt. She attended and organized many workshops and lectures in the field of QA. She trained many academic, non academic staff and students in QA and accreditation requirements. She has got many awards from order of Pharmacists in Egypt and research at the national level in her specialty.

Huixiao Hong, Ph.D., is a senior Scientist at the Division of Systems Toxicology, National Center for Toxicological Research (NCTR), US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Arkansas, USA, working on the scientific bases for regulatory application and development of genomics and biomarkers at the FDA. Before he joined the FDA, he was a senior Bioinformatician and the Manager of Bioinformatics Division at Z-Tech, an ICFI company. He held a Research Scientist position at Sumitomo Chemical Company in Japan. He was a visiting scientist at National Cancer Institute (NCI) at National Institutes of Health (NIH). He was also an Associated Professor and the Director of Laboratory of Computational Chemistry at Nanjing University in China. He published more than 80 scientific papers and served as an Executive Editor or a member of Editorial Board of 9 peer-reviewed journals and as a reviewer of more than 20 peer-reviewed journals in the area of pharmacogenomics, proteomics, bioinformatics, and chemoinformatics. He received his Ph.D. from Nanjing University in China and did post-doctoral research at Maxwell Institute in Leeds University in England.

Dr. Bjork completed his M.D. degree and neurology residency at The University of Minnesota, Minneapolis. He is certified by The American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. He has practiced for over thirty years in North Dakota and Colorado. He is currently the founder of Lotus Health in suburban Denver, Colorado. Lotus Health offers holistic and pharmacological treatment for Alzheimer disease, headaches and treatment-resistant depression/PTSD. Dr. Bjork has served as a preceptor for medical students and physician assistants in training. He has co-authored scientific papers and has lectured on five continents. He has recently published a children’s medical primer.

Marios Kyriazis qualified as a medical doctor (MD) from the University of Rome, Italy, and also as a Gerontologist with interest in the biology of aging from Kings College London. He is a Chartered Member of the academic organisation ‘Royal Society of Biology’ in the UK. He also has a post-graduate qualification in Geriatric Medicine from the Royal College of Physicians of London. Other appointments include Member of the Board of Trustees at the Mediterranean Graduate School of Applied Social Cognition, affiliate researcher at the Evolution, Complexity and Cognition Group, University of Brussels, and a Ronin Research Scholar. He has a portfolio of over 1000 articles, papers and lectures on ageing both for academics and the public.

In many laboratories across the world there are projects aiming to develop effective therapies against age-associated conditions. Pharmaceuticals and nutraceuticals are being evaluated and offered for consumption by the public on a regular basis. New and not-so-new compounds attract attention as possible ‘longevity elixirs’, and examples include resveratrol, metformin, mTOR modulators, calorie restriction mimetics, NAD+, carnosine, and many others. Although there is some merit in using such agents in an attempt to lessen the impact of age-associated chronic dysfunction, there is no evidence to suggest that these remedies will lead to the elimination of ageing. There are several reasons for this but an important one is that we need to evaluate such compounds not in isolation, but in relation to the human environment. This means that societal and cultural elements come into consideration, in addition to the pharmaceutical ones. Research shows that compounds may have different effects if these are evaluated in the social context of the patient, and other effects if considered in pharmacological isolation. If we want to eliminate age-associated dysfunction and achieve radical life extension, we need to move away from simple drug models and study instead complex scenarios which take into account socio-cultural and techno-cultural aspects.
